International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering IABSE

The British Group of International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering popularly known as IABSE has been playing a pivotal role in the development of the art and science of structural engineering since 1929. The group has its headquarters in Zurich Switzerland and has an extensive network of members in over 100 countries with over 23000 memberships. The British Group of IABSE is chaired by Prof. David A. Nethercot and it is a recognized source of knowledge and information related to issues that involve structural engineering and public safety within the built environment. The Institution primarily functions in the areas of supporting and protecting the profession of structural engineering by maintaining professional standards and acting as an international voice on behalf of structural engineers.
