Johor Student Leaders Council (JSLC)

Johor Student Leaders Council (JSLC) was first established as an elite group of student leaders
in Johor comprising some of Johor’s exceptional young talents in schools. This visionary move
was initiated by the Johor Education Department (JPNJ) and Iskandar Regional Development
Authority (IRDA). Johor Student Leaders Council, having organized multiple successful
leadership and youth development projects, received firm support from the State of Johor
government.
The establishment of JSLC was not only to hone leadership skills amongst Johor top students
but also to mobilize the ‘Internationalisation of Schools Programme’. The programme is also
based on a principal; ‘For the Students, by the Students’ to signify the empowerment of
students to plan, organize and mobilize huge programmes that bear significance in
producing competitive human capital that is able to strive and compete at any platforms.
The strong collaboration between the Johor Education Department (JPNJ) AND Yayasan
Pelajaran Johor (YPJ) has enabled the JSLC members to receive invaluable youth leadership
training both locally and internationally. Since its inception in 2010, JSLC has successfully
trained over 160 of the best student leaders in the state of Johor. With 20 new members
carefully selected from various selection camps and interviews, the twelfth cohort was
established to ensure the continuity of the legacy of developing and moulding exceptional
youth leaders amongst young Johoreans.
