Mindscreen Film Institute (MFI), established in 2006 by acclaimed
cinematographer, director, actor, and educationist Rajiv Menon, is one of
India’s premier institutions for cinematic education. Initially founded with a
focus on Cinematography, MFI has since evolved into a comprehensive centre
for Film-Making and Direction, known for nurturing creative excellence
through a practice-based curriculum.
Flagship Program – Cinematography
MFI’s flagship Cinematography course is recognized for its rigorous, industry-
relevant training. Designed to blend technical proficiency with creative insight,
the program is supported by state-of-the-art equipment, professional studio, and
an experienced faculty drawn from the film industry. This holistic approach
prepares students to confidently meet the creative and technical demands of
professional filmmaking.
Global Outlook and Alumni Impact
Now in its 19th year, Mindscreen Film Institute has successfully conducted 38
batches in Cinematography and 23 batches in Film-Making and Direction,
welcoming over 1,000 students from across India and abroad. Reflecting our
global outlook and commitment to excellence, MFI has nurtured a diverse
student body and built a strong international network. Our alumni have made
remarkable contributions to the film and media industry, having worked on
more than 550 feature films across various Indian and languages. Many have
gone on to become award-winning cinematographers, directors, and technicians,
earning recognition for their creativity, professionalism, and technical expertise.
Their success underscores MFI’s reputation as a leading training ground for
world-class talent in cinema and visual storytelling.
