WCP 2026: 26th World Congress of Psychiatry

WCP 2026 Invitation:

 

Together with our member society, the Swedish Psychiatric Association, the World Psychiatric Association (WPA) is thrilled to invite you to the 26th WPA World Congress of Psychiatry (WCP 26) in the vibrant city of Stockholm, Sweden, from 23-26 September 2026.

 

Our theme for this Congress, “Guided by Compassion, Grounded in Science: Psychiatry for Our Time,” reflects the dual essence of modern psychiatric practice. In a rapidly changing world, psychiatry must balance scientific rigor with empathy. WCP 26 will explore how mental health professionals can respond to today’s challenges with compassion, uphold ethical standards, and innovate responsibly to meet the evolving needs of our society.

 

Set in Stockholm, a city renowned for its progressive spirit and stunning natural beauty, WCP 2026 will serve as a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and inspiration. The WPA 2023-2026 Action Plan will continue to guide us as we advance vital priorities in research, prevention, education, and global cooperation.

 

The Congress will once again feature the popular Specialist Corner, where leading experts will delve into pressing topics, including psychotic disorders, affective disorders, trauma, substance use, neurodevelopmental conditions, and digital mental health.

 

Promoting healthy lifestyles will remain central to our agenda, with a strong focus on physical activity, sleep, nutrition, and overall well-being. Special attention will be given to the mental health challenges faced by adolescents in an increasingly digital world.

 

WCP 2026 will also spotlight global research initiatives, examining lifestyle interventions, suicide prevention, and emergency mental health response, all while emphasizing international collaboration.

 

Collaboration is key, and with the WPA’s Advisory Committee on Response to Emergencies (ACRE) and partnerships with psychiatric associations worldwide, we will continue working toward a healthier and more resilient global future.
